How to Make Baked Brown Sugar Apples
Baked brown sugar apples are simple to make. Here’s all you have to do.
- Peel and slice apples. Peel the apples and slice apples into equal sized pieces so the apples cook evenly throughout.
- Coat the apples with lemon juice and spices. Most baked apples are typically made using cinnamon and sugar. I like to add a little ginger in, as well. The extra spice brings out the flavors of this apple dessert and gives this dish a homemade taste. Before sprinkling the apples with the brown sugar, cinnamon and ginger mixture, I coat them in a little lemon juice.
- Mix cornstarch and apple cider: Mixing cornstarch and apple cider together in a separate bowl, and then pouring it over the apples helps to thicken the sauce. To me, the gooey, caramelized brown sugar sauce is what makes the baked apples so irresistible.
- Put in a dish and bake. Spread the sliced apples into a baking dish and put in the oven. Bake and enjoy! Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a yummy treat!

Brown Sugar Apples Seasoning: Cinnamon, ground ginger and brown sugar are common baking ingredients so you probably already have them on-hand. Before coating the apples with the sugar and spice mixture, I like to rub lemon juice on them. This keeps the apples from browning.
Mountain Cider Spiced Apple Cider: The secret to these delicious baked apples is using a little bit of spiced apple cider. It really brings out all the apple flavor.
My favorite brand to use is Mountain Cider Spiced Apple Cider since it has no preservatives and is gluten free. Substituting spiced cider for the water in recipes gives the dish an old fashioned taste.
