Ingredients Needed
- Bread
- Eggs
- Milk
- Vanilla Extract
- Cinnamon
- Brown Sugar
- Strawberries
Bread – I like regular bread since it’s cost- efficient. You can also use french bread. Another favorite is leftover banana bread and cinnamon raisin bread. Yum!
Eggs – Scramble eggs before adding milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon and brown sugar. It’s so much easier that way and ensures you don’t have blobs of egg whites and yolk which are harder to incorporate.
Milk – I use full fat milk you can also make french toast kebabs with heavy whipping cream, half and half, or coconut milk for best results and for those who are lactose intolerant.
Vanilla Extract – I recommend real vanilla extract for overall best flavor. However you may use imitation vanilla or honey if you find yourself in a pinch.
Cinnamon – Is a must when making french toast! The sweet aroma is also a plus.
Brown Sugar is my favorite, but you may use any kind of sugar you like, or no sugar at all.
Strawberries – I love strawberries and french toast, but feel free to use your favorite berry or berries.
How to Make Berry French Toast Kabobs
You will need 12-inch bamboo skewers a pan, spatula and non-stick cooking spray for this recipe.
- Scramble eggs & combine other ingredients. In a medium sized mixing bowl add eggs and beat until scrambled. Stir in milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar and stir until all ingredients are combined.
- Dip bread & Cook. Dip bread slices into egg mixture until covered on both sides. Spray pan with non-stick cooking spray or melt butter. Add french toast making sure to not over crowd the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until french toast is cooked. Slice bread into fourths and cut off the crust if you’d like.
- Tread french toast & strawberries onto skewers. Thread french toast onto 12 in bamboo skewers. Next add a strawberry, then add more french toast until the skewer is filled to your liking. Sprinkle kabobs with powdered sugar if desired and serve with warm maple syrup for dipping.
Recipe Notes
Bread varieties: I used regular sandwich bread, but the options are endless. Try thicker Texas toast, french bread, sour-dough bread, banana bread, cinnamon raisin bread and more.
For large loaves of bread from the bakery, cut into uniform slices or cubes.
Skewer Additions: Spark your creativity and make these breakfast skewers entirely your own! Feel free to thread on sausage, turkey sausage, chicken sausage or plant-based sausage.
Also, try fruits like sliced bananas, thinly sliced apples, raspberries or blueberries.
