Pam cooking spray has been used! Fast, quick, and in a hurry. Needless to say, the grilled cheese sandwich passed the kid approved test!
Avocado Oil. Avocado oil is an oil that uses healthy fats. And a great butter replacement.
Coconut oil. Coconut oil is great for many things whether you use it for baking, frying, or as a butter or oil alternative.
I’d recommend heating first and melting coconut oil into liquid so oil spreads onto bread smoothly.
Vegetable Oil. Vegetable oil is a great butter alternative. Just coat the skillet with a small amount or spread evenly on each piece of bread before cooking.
Vegetable Shorting. Vegetable shorting like lard or crisco are other butter alternatives.
Heat vegetable shorting in a pan and add grilled cheese. Cook until golden brown.
Or you can spread vegetable shorting lightly onto each slice of bread before cooking.
Vegan Butter. Vegan butter is a plant based butter alternative that tastes exactly like real butter! Country crock plant based butter is economically friendly and tasty.
Margarine. Margarine is a butter substitute and the taste of butter and margarine are similar when compared.
How to Make a Grilled Cheese without Butter
Coat bread with butter replacement. Coat one side of bread with butter replacement like ghee, mayo, olive oil, or vegan plant based butter.
Assemble grilled cheese with your choice of filling. Add your favorite grilled cheese ingredients to the grilled cheese sandwich. Grilled cheese made with vegetables like spinach, carrots, broccoli, and arugula are so good!
Even fruits and jellies are a tasty new way to enjoy this classic, American favorite.
Heat a pan on medium heat. Heat a pan on medium heat and add grilled cheese to the pan with butter replacement side down.
