Ingredients Needed

Overhead picture of ingredients needed to make salami and cream cheese roll ups. Hard dry salami, Boursin garlic and fine herbs cheese spread, diced green onions and banana peppers.
  • Salami
  • Boursin Garlic and Herb Spread or Cream Cheese
  • Banana Peppers
  • Green Onions

Salami – Thicker slices of dry hard salami work best for rolling meat and cheese roll. However, you can use smaller slices of salami it would just require more finesse.

Boursin Garlic and Fine Herb Spread – is my personal favorite because the cheese is flavored and adds a savory flavor.

Likewise, you may also substitute cream cheese. Make sure to soften cream cheese at room temperature before spreading over-top sliced salami.

You’ll substitute Boursin garlic and herb cheese with four ounces softened cream cheese.

Banana Peppers – are my favorite, also try other add-ins like; cappers, pickles, shallots, green-olives, black-olives or pepperoncinis.

For a spicy kick, add diced jalapeno.

Green Onions – Add a savory flavor to these salami and cream cheese roll ups. Feel free to skip if green onions are not your thing.

How to Make Salami Cream Cheese Roll

  1. Lay out plastic wrap – on a flat surface, place salami slices in a flat layer, creating four rows with 5 slices and the last row with 4 slices.
  2. Spread Boursin cheese or cream cheese – evenly over salami and add banana peppers and diced green onions (green parts only)
  3. Tightly roll-up salami roll – Tightly roll meat and cheese in plastic wrap, tuck in the bottom of salami and roll until salami is rolled into a log shape. Tuck in the sides and secure in plastic wrap.
  4. Chill and refrigerate – Salami roll for 1-4 hours or overnight. When ready to serve, slice salami roll into pinwheel shape. I like to slice thin about 1/2 inch in size for each slice.

Prepare salami and cream cheese roll, and store in the refrigerator wrapped tightly in plastic wrap the night before your social event.

There is no easier make-ahead party appetizer than that! Just remove the salami log from the fridge when ready to serve.

Slice salami into the desired pinwheel shape (thinly-sliced, or thick-cut slices). Serve with fruits, veggies, crackers and dips like Cucumber Dill Dip or Dill Pickle Dip

How to roll salami and cheese roll like a pro, Lay plastic wrap on a flat surface and place salami slices in a flat layer, creating four rows with 5 slices and last row with 4 slices.

Wear gloves for easy rolling or you’ll need to finesse plastic wrap a bit by tucking in plastic wrap and folding in the bottom of salami and cheese rolling tightly.

Each roll, you’ll need to tightly roll the salami log by pressing salami against the plastic wrap, roll, press, and then move the plastic wrap off of the salami roll.

Continue this until the salami is rolled into a log shape and wrap tightly with plastic wrap.

I like to press and roll again once the salami roll is wrapped in plastic wrap and I press and fold in each side.

And voila – just like that, your next party appetizer is ready just slice and serve!

Prepare appetizers for a crowd, and double this recipe. Make two salami and cream cheese rolls.
