Blueberry Fluff Salad Recipe

Ingredients Needed

  • Blueberry Pie Filling
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • Cool Whip
  • Sour Cream
  • Pineapple Tidbits
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Almonds

Blueberry Pie Filling – Adds lots of blueberry flavor and Duncan Hines is my favorite. However, you may use any blueberry pie filling you like.

Sweetened Condensed Milk – Make sure you grab a can of sweetened condensed milk, not “evaporated milk”.

Cool Whip – Makes the fluff salad nice and creamy.

Sour Cream – Mixed with blueberry pie filling and other sweet ingredients makes the tastiest fruit salad ever! The tangy sour cream balances all the other sweetness going on.

Pineapple Tidbits – I used pineapple tidbits because they are my favorite. However you can also use pineapple chunks or crushed pineapples.

Mini Marshmallows – I normally make this blueberry fluff salad for summer barbecues and outdoor picnics.

Likewise, when I make this fruit salad for Easter I grab Easter colored miniature marshmallows.

Christmas you could purchase some Christmas tree marshmallows if you’d like.

Sliced Almonds – Not everyone likes sliced almonds, so depending on the crowd I may skip this ingredient and add sliced strawberries, fresh blueberries or shredded coconut instead.

Feel free to do the same depending on whom you are serving.

Recipe Tips

Here are a few tips to make this blueberry salad just right!

Overhead picture of two glass bowls filled with dessert style fluff arranged next to a white and pink towel and mini marshmallows.
  • Make sure the canned pineapple is drained well so the salad isn’t watered down. I like to take the extra step and place fruit on paper towels to absorb any remaining liquid.
  • Make sure the cool whip is thawed entirely before making fluff salad. You’ll need a 16 ounce tub Cool Whip. 1 (8 ounce) tub thawed Cool Whip yields only 3 cups whipped topping. While 1 (16 ounce) tub Cool Whip yields 6.5 cups whipped topping.
  • It’s best to refrigerate the fruit salad for at least 30 minutes. That way all the flavors meld together.
  • If making this salad many hours in advance, leave the marshmallows out and add closer to serving time.

Recipe Variations

One thing I love about fluff salads is how versatile they are. Here are some variations.

Combine half sour cream and half yogurt – Make Blueberry Salad with sour cream and 4 cups yogurt for a healthier fruit salad.

Yogurt – To make Blueberry Fluff Salad even healthier, use yogurt in place of Cool Whip and Sour Cream.

Greek yogurt and vanilla yogurt are good options. My personal favorite is lemon yogurt, gives this salad a citrusy taste.

Don’t like almonds? Add nuts like; walnuts, pecans, or pistachios. Shredded coconut and sliced strawberries are delicious too, and make a berry-licious salad.

Make a different flavor Strawberry Jello Fluff Salad, Cherry Fluff Salad, Orange Fluff Salad, and Banana Split Fluff Salad, are delicious and also so easy to make.
