Cream cheese yogurt fruit dip is a lighter version of regular fruit dip. It’s made with cream cheese and yogurt and is perfect for dipping strawberries or your favorite fruits.
There’s nothing better than in-season, fresh fruit. It tastes delicious all on its own. Thank you Mother Nature.
But if you’re looking for a tasty dip to add to a fruit platter or are trying to get your kids to eat more fruit, then this homemade fruit dip is perfect.
I love giving it to my kids as a healthy after-school snack. It’s also great for setting out at potlucks and parties.
Tips for Making Cream Cheese Yogurt Fruit Dip
- Use a cream cheese brick. Make sure to use cream cheese that comes in a brick and not the spreadable kind that comes in a tub. You can also make dill pickle dip with cream cheese.
- Bring the cream cheese to room temperature. Softening the cream cheese and bringing it to room temperature is a must to keep the dip from having lumps in it. Just leave it out on the counter for about an hour.
- Use either regular or Greek yogurt. The consistency of fruit dip made with regular yogurt is thinner than Greek yogurt and is ideal for dipping fruit. For a thicker fruit dip that’s higher in protein, make cream cheese Greek yogurt dip.
- Try these fruit dip variations: To change up the flavor of the fruit dip, substitute in another flavor of yogurt like strawberry or lemon. To reduce the fat content and calories in the fruit dip, use reduced-fat cream cheese.
Ingredients
This slightly healthier version of cream cheese fruit dip is made without marshmallow cream. In its place is yogurt.

What type of yogurt is best for making fruit dip?
When it comes to the type of yogurt to use, the options are plentiful. To keep things as healthy as possible I go for a yogurt with the least amount of added sugars.
I mainly use plain, regular yogurt. It gives the fruit dip a smooth consistency which makes it easy to dip anything from bananas to apples.
If you want to bump of the flavor, you could try vanilla yogurt.
For strawberry cream cheese fruit dip, combine the cream cheese with (you guessed it) your favorite strawberry yogurt.
And to make cream cheese Greek yogurt dip, mix in plain Greek yogurt. This thicker dip has more protein and will leave you feeling fuller longer.
As you can see, homemade yogurt fruit dip is extremely versatile and fun to experiment with. You almost can’t go wrong.
How to Make Cream Cheese Yogurt Fruit Dip
Soften the cream cheese. The first step to making cream cheese yogurt fruit dip is to soften the cream cheese by bringing it to room temperature.
Mix the cream cheese. Add the cream cheese to a mixing bowl and beat with a hand mixer until it’s creamy.
Add in the yogurt, sugar, vanilla and lemon. Beat the mixture until it’s smooth. Give it a taste test and add in more sweetener or vanilla until you like it. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice brightens up the flavor.
Refrigerate the fruit dip. Transfer the cream cheese yogurt dip to a serving bowl and refrigerate for 1-2 hours, allowing all the flavors to come together.
Slice fresh fruit for dipping. Serve the dip on a platter or board with a variety of fresh fruits. Cut the fruit in big enough pieces for easy-dipping. Serve with toothpicks or appetizer forks if needed.
Fruits that Go Well with Yogurt and Cream Cheese Dip
I almost can’t think of a fruit that doesn’t go well with cream cheese dip.
Of course, in-season fruits always have the best flavor. And you definitely want to opt for fresh fruit over canned. (Canned fruit is too soft for dipping.)
But for this yogurt and cream cheese dip, any fruit will do.
Apple wedges are easy to pick up and slide through the dip. Other fruits that go well with this dip are strawberries, pineapple, kiwi, banana, orange wedges and all types of berries.
One fun option is to serve fruit kabobs alongside a bowl of fruit dip.
Here’s a list of good fruits for dipping.
- Apple Slices
- Pineapple Chunks
- Strawberries (full or cut in half)
- Blueberries, Raspberries and Blackberries
- Banana (thick slices)
- Kiwi
- Grapes
- Pear Slices
- Cuties (separate the sections)
What is fruit dip made of?
The base of most fruit dips, store-bought and homemade, is cream cheese.
For flavor, tubs of fruit dip from the store often contain artificial flavoring and sugar, while many homemade fruit dips have marshmallow fluff added in.
Both kinds certainly taste delicious, but if you want to make a lighter version, try combining the cream cheese with yogurt instead.
