Peach dumplings with crescent rolls is an irresistible dessert that brings together peaches, brown sugar and the lemon-lime sweetness of Sprite.

Crescent Rolls Peach Dumplings is one of my favorite summer dessert recipes.

It’s super simple to make, only has a few ingredients and is absolutely delicious.

What sets this recipe apart from traditional peach dumpling recipes is the crescent rolls and Sprite.

The crescent rolls are a huge time-saver versus making homemade dough.

And the Sprite makes a wonderful sweet sauce that helps steam the dumplings and add a ton of flavor.

Best of all, this recipe only takes minutes to prep and will be in the oven baking in no time at all.

Tips for Making Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls

  • Need a last-minute dessert? Crescent roll peach dumplings are ready in under 45 minutes, including bake time! I like to prep them before dinner and pop in them in the oven while we’re eating. Peach Cobbler with Cake Mix is also a yummy quick & easy dessert.
  • Peach dumplings can be made with fresh or frozen peaches. I use fresh peaches when they’re in-season and frozen the rest of the year. No matter which type of peach you choose, the dumplings are just as peachy and delicious.
  • For variety, add raisins or chopped nuts to each peach dumpling before rolling. For other flavors, simply swap the peaches for another fruit, like apple.
  • Crescent roll peach dumplings are best served warm. Be sure to let them sit for about 10 minutes after they come out of the oven before serving. Then serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (of course). For a little added flavor, garnish with cinnamon.

Ingredients & Substitutions

This peach dumpling recipe only has 7 ingredients. I like to keep a can of crescent rolls, a Sprite and a bag of frozen peaches on-hand so I can make this dessert whenever the mood hits.

Ingredients to make peach dumplings with crescent rolls and Sprite.

Crescent Rolls: I use Pillsbury crescent rolls, but any brand is fine. Get a can that has 8 rolls and separate them into triangles carefully, using the perforation lines.

Peaches: Fresh or frozen peaches can be used to make the dumplings. Avoid using canned peaches since they’re too mushy. If you use frozen peaches, just be sure to let them thaw at room temperature for a few minutes.

Sprite: If this recipe has a secret ingredient, it’s Sprite. The lemon-lime soda creates a gooey sauce when it bakes together with the brown sugar/butter topping. I love to serve peach dumplings with a scoop of this sweet caramelized sauce on top.

Sprite can be substituted with any lemon-lime soda such as 7-Up or even Mountain Dew.

Steps to Make Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls

Prepare Peaches. Peel and cut fresh peaches into 4 wedges each for a total of 8. For frozen peaches, lay 16 slices out on a paper towel so any ice crystals can thaw. It only takes about 15 minutes.

Roll the Crescent Rolls. Place 1 fresh peach wedge or 2 frozen peach slices on the wide end of the crescent roll and roll it up so point ends up in the middle. Tuck in the ends of the crescent roll to cover the peaches. Place in an 8×8 baking dish.

Whisk together the topping. Combine melted butter, sugars and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour evenly over each peach dumpling.

Add Sprite. Pour Sprite, 7-Up or any lemon-lime soda into the bottom of baking dish in the gaps between and around each crescent roll peach dumpling. Do not pour on top.

Bake peach dumplings. Place the dumplings in a 350°F oven for about 30 minutes. Rotate the pan halfway through baking time for even baking.

Best Peaches for Dumplings

Fresh Peaches: Nothing is better than baking with fresh, ripe fruit packed with flavor.

Depending on where you live, however, the season can be short. I can only get decent peaches for about 3 months of the year.

Frozen Peaches: In my opinion, frozen peaches work just as well in this dumpling recipe.

Frozen fruit is flash-frozen at peak ripeness so all the flavor is packed in.

Plus, it’s easy to keep a bag of frozen peaches on-hand and bake up a tray of peach dumplings any time of year.

The only extra step you have to take is to thaw the peaches before baking.

This way all the ice crystals are melted before using and not during baking.

Here are a few tips for baking with frozen blueberries.

Canned Peaches: For peach dumplings rolled in crescent rolls, canned peaches aren’t ideal. They are already soft and may not keep their shape when baked.

Why Add Sprite to Peach Dumplings

Peach dumpling à la Mode with a spoonful of sauce over the dumpling.

Sweet, carbonated Sprite may seem like an odd ingredient to add to peach dumplings made with crescent rolls.

But the soda actually does a few things.

According to Betty Crocker, carbonation is a leavening agent that can make cakes rise. The crescent rolls cooked with Sprite definitely come out fluffier than regular crescent rolls.

The Sprite also provides a little bit of moisture to steam the dumplings.

But most of all, the Sprite cooks down and when combined with the cinnamon sugar, butter topping, makes the most delicious sauce to serve over the peach dumplings.

Prep Time: 7 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 37 minutes

Easy peach dumplings with crescent rolls. Ready in 45 minutes and only need a few ingredients including peaches, crescent rolls, and Sprite.

Ingredients

  • 2 peaches ( or 16 slices of frozen peaches)
  • 1 can crescent rolls
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup Sprite soda (or 7-Up)
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream (optional)

Instructions

Making Peach Dumplings with Crescent Rolls

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Peel 2 fresh peaches. Cut each peach into 4 wedges. For frozen peaches, lay out 16 slices on a paper towel to thaw at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  3. Open crescent rolls and carefully separate crescent rolls into 8 pieces.
  4. Place 1 fresh peach wedge or 2 frozen peaches on the wide end of each crescent roll. Roll the crescent so that the pointy end is close to the center. To seal the peach dumplings, pinch the ends closed so the peaches aren't poking out.
  5. Butter the bottom and sides of an 8x8 baking dish and place peach dumplings evenly in dish.
  6. Combine the sugars, cinnamon and hot melted butter in a bowl. Stir until sugars are dissolved. Pour or spoon the sauce on top of each dumpling evenly. Plenty will drip into the dish, as well.
  7. Add Sprite to the bottom of baking dish by pouring it into the spaces between peach dumplings. Do NOT pour Sprite on top of the dumplings.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, rotating the dish halfway through for even baking. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

Serving Peach Dumplings

  1. Place a peach dumpling on a small dessert plate or bowl.
  2. Spoon sauce from baking dish over each dumpling.
  3. Serve à la Mode with vanilla or peach ice cream. Garnish with cinnamon sprinkled on top.
